Many religious institutions tell rather than ask.  In other words, there's an approved list of "jobs" which people can then become part of.  However, in Creative-TheologyTM the goal is to help people use their talents in ways that are helpful to the organization.  So rather than say "Here are our jobs---which would you like to do?" it's much better to ask a person the following type of questions: "Where are you now, how did you get here, and where are you looking to go?"  or... "What sort of job(s) do you have, what are your interests?"  In other words, you start with that person's talents and consider possible ways to help the person express those interests that fit in with the organization's goals, preferably with others of like interests.  "Asking" is viewed (rightly) as highly RESPECTFUL of the person.  Also, it's much more likely to get "buy-in" with enthusiasm than top-down "we know best for you" attitudes.
